I think my first post on this forum, about forum #21? was something like "Does anybody modify these backing plates to use a fully self-energizing system?". I was told top spend $800 per axle to go to discs.

I still might build some self-energizers someday. Weld up all the holes, put in a top anchor, and get some realistically sized cylinders.
