Saturday, I was wouking on the W-100 replacing the speedo cable. For the last couple of years my eye glasses have been great for distance but I couldnt see for beans up close. End result, I was constantly taking them off to do work up close. I kept telling myself I neede new glasses, and probably bifocals. Not really keen on bifocals I kept putting it off. Anyway, back to Saturday, I an under the W, on my creeper and cant see what I am doing so I take my glasses off. Not wanting to crawl back out, and not wanting to put them on the floor, to be run over by the creeper, I folded them up and set them on the bottom lip of the frame. I made a mental note to remember to grab them. So much for mental notes. Took a test drive in the driveway, enjoyed watching the speedometer working. Then went up to the post office to pick up the mail. Later when I got done in the shop, I closed things down and started looking for my glasses. Not remembering actually taking them out from the frame began to trouble me. I scoured the shop to no avail, wallked the driveway a couple of tiomes and then called in the Wife and Daughter for looking assistance. This means enduring the inevitable questions like " where did you have them last?" If I knew that I wuldnt have to ask for help finding them now would I? (Answer I thought but did NOT give)
Anyhow, the glasses have not turned up and are presumed lost. RIP.
Today I went into town and got my head, er, my eyes examined. "You need bifocals" I was told. DUH.
So, picked out some stylish new frames (Yeah right) and forked over the long dollar and now have bifocals. Progressives actually. No distinct line but having a real blast trying to get used to them. Normally I would have taken my glasses off to type this but I am being a good boy and leaving them on. Oh well, as the Rolling Stones said "What a drag it is getting old"
