Okay, now what about the Series?

This is a fascinating conversation. It's amazing how complicated it can get when the company that makes the trucks isn't even completely consistent.

I now have a related question. The Series of the trucks, which seem only to be used on the Service Manuals, must figure into this somehow. "L" series, "R" series, "M" series, "C" series, "K" series... There are seemingly more series than there are designations like Power Giant, Sweptline, etc. I'm guessing that from the service point of view it's more the mechanical similarities that are of interest, but did Dodge ever actually use the Series designation other than in the Service Manuals?

I think we need a really clear web page that maps all this stuff. The series, models, nicknames, evolutionary cul-de-sacs ("Dude" trucks, for example!). There are bits and pieces of this around, but it's not all in one place, and it seems not to be handled exhaustively anywhere that I've seen.

Might give us something to argue about into the winter months, in any case. Ha ha ha!
