Okay, maybe not...

Here is the basic year by year breakdown on by letter from 1954-71:

C-1 = 1954 to mid year 1955
C-3 = mid year 1955 and 1956
K = 1957
L = 1958
M = 1959
P = 1960
R = 1961
RR = 1962 in some books
S = 1962 also in some books
T = 1963
V = 1964
A = 1965
B = 1966
C = 1967
D = 1968
E = 1969
F = 1970
G = 1971

This list may have some small errors, as I have not done a lot of research in the mid to late 60s. I do own a LOT of literature and Dodge tended to put "S" Series on a lot of books, regardless of the actual model year of the book.

The use of these letters can be found in the engine number breakdown in the parts books, and in some manuals.

There are other letters as well...

D models = 2wd standard cab trucks
P models = Forward control trucks
W models = 4wd trucks
L models = Cab Overs from 1963 on
C models = Cab overs from 1957-59 and Low Cab Forwards from 1960 on.

These are also known as Series, as in D Series trucks. It is important to know if you are dealing with C series as in Low Cab Forwards, or as in 1957-59 Cab Overs, or as in 1954-56 trucks, which were C-1 and C-3, also called C series.

Are we having fun yet? :-)

Eric
