Anyone know about 87 dodge ram 4x4's ? There is a local one for sale. It looks real solid and not banged up. It is jacked up some and does have lock out hubs on her. It is a 318 auto with about 110,000 miles on it. The guy wants $ 2000 for it... He says the differentials are dana 44's...
Here are the questions... I am looking around for a truck to pull my 41 dodge WC4 around on a trailer on... Not any great distance, but say, 200 mile round trips like 6 times a year, for various mv shows that are too far to drive to time after time in the old girl... Now, my 41 WC4, with extra junk in her weighs about
5000 lbs, and a good trailer with electric brakes is, (and I am guessing) is 2500 lbs. So total pull weight is about 7500 to
8000 lbs... Questions... Will a Dodge Ram like this pull 8000 lbs with out tearing the Ram to heck ? How strong are the drive trains in these Rams ? With 110,000 miles on here, assuming she runs well, how much more life can we GUESS the 318 will have, without having to be rebuilt ? Also, it appears to have drums all around... With electric trailer brakes, I think that would be ok, but would like opinions...And lastly, price...Is it in the ball park for one in decent average condition ? Thanks in advance... Bob
