Sometimes I think the entire scenario is a fell good issue ...only...because if you do the math, of fuel consumed annually vs. the amount of acreage needed to replace that fuel, you'd quickly see that there isn't enough capacity, water or refiners to replace oil with ethanol.
The same thing goes for electric or hybrids.
If every car was a hybrid or electric tomorrow, (never mind the battery disposal issue) there is NOT enough electrical generating capacity in the entire country, in order to recharge the batteries overnight!
It would take the building of 24 new nuclear generating plants to cleanly and efficiently have enough electrical generating capacity for the electric car to work.
Then and only then would a hybrid or electric vehicle make sense.
