Ten additional psi at 3,000 in my 230. The thermostat acts as a restriction to the flow, so pressure builds. That's why running without a thermostat is not good. You'll get those cavities in the cylinder walls at the bottom point of the pin travel. Caused by steam eroding the cylinders. The piston pins make a hot spot where they pause at the bottom of their stroke. I've seen some through the core plug holes at rebuild time. They look just like the cavitation damage done to a die cast boat prop. You know, those inverted bubbles? Maybe you seen them and thought they were from air bubbles in the casting.
