My 99 Durango has been making funny noises from the front end. I took it to 3 places and they all recommended rebuilding the front end, Ball joints, control arm bushings, stabilizer bushings, and struts. The price was from 1800 to 2400 bucks! $2400 being the dealer.

I purchaces the ball joints for less than $200 and the bushings for a little less and started to do it myself. The ball joints were worn but there was not even a crack in the control arm bushings. The dealer even told me I may have worn thru the bushings and may need new control arms!

I"ll put the thing back together today and get it aligned, but not at any of the places I have already been. The lug nuts were on so tight that I cracked 2 sockets using a 3 foot cheater pipe to get them off as my impact could not do it. I feel sorry for the less able who have to pay the rates of these criminals!

What do I like most about this 12 mpg pig. I put in a new engine at 40 thou (hole in a piston), an AC compressor, AC condenser, heater core, 3 water pumps, and a new stereo.
