I have a 47 dodge 230 flathead with a very strange oil filter. Instead of the normal sock type there is a thing inside shaped like a funnel.It appears to be made of a stiff copper or brass mesh and the oil comes up thru the center and then is forced thru the walls of the funnel. As far as I know it is original to the truck. I clean it at every oil change by soaking it in solvent and scrubbing with a toothbrush. Has anyone ever seen this setup before?
