The problem is that the scale that you quoted is not realistic either. I have seen only a hand full of "restored" Power-Wagons and only a small number of "restored" vehicles of any other make/model. Most reportedly top notch "restorations" realistically just simply good "refurbishments" IMHO.

I also think there are more enthusiasts out there who seek out the nice originals over the perfect restorations. I would bet that just about any condition is more sought after than the perfect restoration. More people have money to spend on users/customs/etc. than "restorations".

The point is that everyone has their own personal scale depending upon their own personal needs or wants, so what real good does official scales do other than falsely increase or decrease perceived value to those with a different scale in mind?
