In this conversation, I'm not looking at taxes at all, just profits. I'll say this for the record, I vote republican, and could never stand Bill C. and never voted for him. I agree much better choices could have been made. But back to the cost of fuel or gas. I know for a fact that we ( a refiner) do not recieve and tax brakes, on the contrary, we in fact pay more for a bbl of ANS crude than refiners on the West coast, due to the state royality issuse, that alone drives the operating cost up for our little out-fit, not to mention the operating cost related to refining in the arctic like we do. I do know the producers who pull the oil from the ground do get brakes, but I'm not real versed in that. But, they don't influince the price at the pump, ( not in our area anyway) If the stand against current prices is aimed at the federal taxes we all pay per gallon, I understand, but it didn't seem to start that way.
