V8 in M37 - need Salvage Yard Advice

I want to put a V8 in my M37. I really want to do a Dodge 440. I need to know about transmissions. I don't want to move the transfer case if possible. What kind of transmission would work on a 440 an still fit with the M37.

I liked the sound of the NV4500 but have been told that it's kind of long and was not coupled with a 440 in production. I would love to get a complete (wrecked) truck with a 440/tranny already in it and pull the thing out as a unit. I was thinking of looking for full size Dodge Pickups.

I have also heard that if I want to keep the OEM NP200 transfer case that I would have to get a 2WD transmission. Is this true?

What Engine/Transmission combo should I look for? What Dodge truck would have that in it so I can pull it?
