Lockers: Dan S./ Mopar Norm

Whatnif you go into 4 wheel drive on your WDX (etal) and only have lockers for the rear axle. What happens to the front axle. Does it spin or ??? Thanks
PS I should remember this from my readings of John Zentmeyer but alas I don't. M
