Judy:

This is something I am looking into also. I have used chem strippers in the past, and at it's VERY best, is a major mess. Now aircraft are, or were, made of aluminium, so Aircraft Stripper won't hurt the metal, but, like you mentioned, is extremely toxic.

I have been searching the web for rust converters, and during my search have come across several companies that sell paint removal products that are supposed to be GREEN friendly. I have not tried any, so I can't comment on them. Even Eastwood has a line of GREEN products (paint included).

This may be something for all of us to look into as soon, even paint (automotive) will not be available to the general public. You'll need an OSHA cert to get it. What David mentioned about airlines sending planes to 3rd world countries is an example of capitalism at it's ugly worst. It's bottomline, and so what if several thousand people get sick and die. So what if the land will be poisioned in 100 years, we won't be here. HA! Ooops, I'm off my soapbox now, sorry.
