As several of you know I am going to put newer axles under my Carryall. A dana 60 in front with power lock and a dana 70 in the rear.
I figured I would run 4.88 give or take. I have a line on a set of 3.55 and a rear with a 3.73 to get to a 4.88 I would need a carrier change in the rear and may be able to run the dana 60 with a spacer. My latest quote for the gear swap, new bearings and a new detroit locker for the rear comes to about 3 grand Canadian .

So I am back to looking for a complete late model dodge truck to bid on. I do have a line on a frame and axles - 1996 - for 1200 bucks but the gear ratio is 3.54 and I do not think those gears would be comfortable in the bush.

If I go to some sort of twin transfer case set up I think i end up increasing my chances of axle and transmission failure.

All this engineering is fun but I want to see some progress.

take care

Bruce
