The levers you hook onto are sorta up higher then the cross member so the cable can flex but not a rod. If you bend it to fit right then you can't slide the rod back to the levers that is what was wrong. I bought some nice crimp ends and some real good cable to make up a new one with. I will just slide the cable inside the original housing. My crimping tool is a comercial one for the purpose and does a good job of crimping. I have made cables up with hooks and used them to pull rigs with and never had one fail yet. Mark H.
