Message:   Today is the day that the Dodge Brothers produced their 1st factory assembly line truck in 1917(90 years ago!)
It had a 12 volt electrical system and a 4 cylinder engine.
The Dodge Brothers had made some one off trucks before then as they had been inundated by requests for a truck since they had produced their first car in November 1914. Because they were unable to keep up with demand for their cars they were reluctant to make trucks.
Today is also John Dodge's birthday. He was born in 1864 in Niles Michigan aabout 40 miles from here. He was the older of the two.
