I know the feeling. This year while on "fire prevention week tour" {going to fd open houses with the fire truck,} I had been told "I wish i knew you guys {the firetruck club} were around last year when we cleaned house" TWICE. All of the old fire equipment went to the dump. One cheif did take me out to a little shed and asked if I could use "this old thing", an big old deck gun, well ya!. It turned out that the guy, from the club, that I was at the open house with, had been looking for one and didn't want to pay the $500 that they go for on E-bay.
I wish people would make an effort to find people to "entrust" such historical articles to, once it's in the dump it is history lost.
