It has taken me a little time to wrap my head around Ricks passing. Carl Buckingham shared the news March 31st and yesterday John Geidl told me of the message thread posted here. I met both Rick and Carl for the first time in Castle Rock, CO around 30 years ago at, of all places, a truck show. We have been wheeling around and keeping in touch ever since. Along with BZ, Terry Ausley and a host of others over the years, we have shared vistas and humor throughout the Colorado Rockies and so many trails surrounding Moab.
The man was an absolute riot to have along as a co-pilot. His love of life, friends, these trucks and the territories we explored was on display every minute of every day. A generous and kind soul to the very end. "Of what shall a man be proud if not his friends"
