Vaughn,

I rebuilt the whole transmission over 20 years ago and put probably 8000 miles on it over the next few years. Either everything or almost everything inside is new (mostly NOS, but some newly made parts at that time). New input shaft/pinion and associated bearings (including the needle bearing that fits inside the input pinion), new cluster gear, and all or most of the other gears, output bearing, and the countershaft and its needle bearings. Even the shift tower was NOS. It has sat for many years on the floor of my garage. I took the tower off a couple of years ago to see how everything inside looked. I was concerned that there would be rust, but it was in great shape. A couple of weeks ago, I took the input shaft bearing retainer off the front, to look at the condition of the bearing, which also looked great - still full of gear oil. So I'm in the process of putting it back on.
