The paint fell off. Dodges of that vintage had poor primer/paint adhesion. It was worse on some colors, than on other colors. White, silver, and the blues they had, seemed to be the worst, it often flaked off in sheets.
I had a 1993, that was two tone blue, it was a flaky mess before it was two years old. Dodge repainted the entire truck under warranty.
My dad had a blue and silver 1991, it flaked also, and was repainted under warranty, his mainly flaked on the silver portion, but the blue was also starting to lift in a few areas, so they painted the entire truck.
My younger brother had a solid white 1989 dodge, the hood and roof had no paint on it, by the time his truck was 6 or 7 years old, it flaked off in sheets.
