It shows the segregation of black troops, led by white officers. It also nicely shows that racism is not blatant, but comes in various shades, even black racism against other blacks.
Alas, only Jeeps, no Dodges. There is a nice old bus, like a Greyhound or Trailways or whatever southern bus company was common.
As for Pearl Harbor, sorry, but it is historically inaccurate. I can understand the appeal to sell the movie to a wider audience. By the same token, I hope they understand when I chose not to watch overly PC and revisionist movies.
BTW, watched Baa Baa Black Sheep for the first time in years. Immediately spotted an M37 in the background. (Had to get a reference to an M37 in here somewhere.)
