if you have ever seen the PO in action, you'd know why they are in desperate straits. i saw our local carrier being followed on foot by 3 (yes 3 guys walking behind him with clipboards) postal inspectors for an entire week. they were doing a work study to observe his performance. the carrier couldn't speed up as it would illustrate that he was dogging it the other 51 weeks of the year. he just loafed along with his 3 bosses in tow. ups would have rotated three difft drivers through the route and compared stats. too slow and your out. i feel bad for anyone getting outsourced / replaced, but if you have a job and don't give 150% in this economy and say to yourself - my job is valuable, i earn money here, i need to contribute in great excess of my pay to maintain my value to the company and help them cover profit and huge governmental induced overhead, you are not being realistic. the game is almost up. any fat, fluff, free rides and inefficiency is being beaten out of the market and downstream of that is the workforce. you could make a stamp $10. no one would use the mail and you'd still lose money. the model is broken...
