The API SERVICE ratings (not the viscosity!!!) have EVERYTHING to do with the type of oil and serviceability. "Diesel oils" are diesel oils ONLY because they are rated by the API as such, with SF,SE, CD, and other lettered SERVICE ratings on the can. Those "Extra amount of chemicals" are denoted by the Service rating codes...
