But I doubt that they would support a brake system without a hefty reservoir. The W123 Mercedes did have vacuum "cells" (read tanks) in the trunk, which were designed to allow the locks to cycle as few times with the engine off. I suppose that an electric vacuum pump could maintain such a thing, but it sounds like a dicey approach for brakes.

The diesel Mercedes I used to own all had mechanical vacuum pumps, as does my Ford 7.3. Does the engine you have not have this feature?
