Back when I had disposable income I looked into the same thing...as I had repowered with a 318.
I spoke with Dutchman and the others and the problem was getting a billet long enough for the entire shaft that could be machined down.
I suggested that instead machine a shaft of proper diameter and weld on the outer flange that bolts to the hub. I explained that if there were to be a weak spot I'd rather have it away from the pumpkin and close to the hub. They told me to send them a pair of the shafts and they could do that no problem. Subsequently I bought a pair of used shafts from Tim Holloway; a series of economic setbacks have stalled everything.
It can be done!
