If you don't like the "armstrong" steering on the deuce, the best way to get hydraulic steering is to buy a 5-ton. I haven't known anybody who's adapted the 5-ton steering to the deuce, but I expect it's fairly doable. I have some vague recollection that perhaps power steering was one of the improvements in the M35A3, a truck that hasn't really gotten out into civilian hands very much yet. I know the A3 has locking diffs and a commercial non-multifuel (Cummins?) engine. The hood sticks up a bit in front to accomodate the engine.

The air-over-hydraulic brake system should be adaptable to a 2-circuit master cylinder, though I don't know if there's a commercial drop-in replacement for the 1-circuit one that's there. The "air-pack" just provides some extra force to a normal hydraulic braking system. I have driven trucks with the air system non-functional and they felt safe enough to me. Obviously the hand brake isn't going to do much to stop you. It has to be adjusted pretty tight just to hold the truck on a hill.
