Early M-37's ( 51-54 ) start with 8 on the vin #. Later B1's vin started with L (1958-9) or 2 1961-68. Early M-37s had bed mounted spare and pass side troop seats were shorter to acommadated the spare. M-37B1's had door mounted spare and full lengh troop seats. Early 37's had only a two disc type light instrument panel., B1's had a three light ( screw in ) inst panel ( just like in the duece ). B1's had welded on angle on the tool box doors so they could be locked. Both 37's had a snycro'ed tranny ( 3rd & 4th gear ) but the B1's had the improved NP 420. Both models had 230's. Other then the vin #'s all the other differences could be retro'ed to either vehicle or missing, so it would be best to take a peek at the vin on the frame behind the left frt tire to know for sure.
