Another method is to use a hydraulic generator (don't know the proper word for it) on the PTO shaft, and a hydraulic motor on the input shaft of the winch. Then the problem of sprockets, pillow blocks, chains, etc. is solved. I would stay away from electric winches. They have only a 1 to 10 duty cycle, if that. Hydraulic ones will run all day.
