Each company that makes auto paint have complete systems. This includes paint, hardner, reducers, primers, etc, etc.
I went to a Auto Body supply that sells PPG products. He suggested I use PPG Omni AU system. He gave me the correct primmer, and all associated chemicals and paint. Everything worked out great.
I suggest you dont try to mix different types of paint. Go to a auto body supply, and let them recommend a complete system from prime to finish. Its their business, they know it well. With the money invested in paint supplies and the work involved for prep, I would be afraid, as a novice to mix and match. Plus if you have questions, you can call teh auto body supply and get help.
Take your time and you will have great results.
