This truck was bought from Oregon Highway dept in 97 where it had been since it was new. When I found it in New Mexico in 99 it still was wearing layers of yellow highway pint of various shadfes the inside was green including the floorboards there were green all were the same color with bare wear ares areas showing around damaged parts of the fenders. after getting home while cleaning it up with a guy that does commercial steam cleaning and pressure washing there was a lot of asphalt around the axles as well as concrete residue the paint was hit on the exterior and the paint stripped off in layers and went to the origional were it quit under the ugly layers of yellow paint was the pristene dark green it came with They apparently got the truck new and shot it with yellow no sanding or painting my observations body was completly green including grill. THE wheels were gloss the rings were galvanized they had painted yellow everwhere except the frame many times the lights and cowl lights mirrors bumpers and the windshield frame were gloss black the fenders and runningboards had been green as well but most of the paint was faded or gone from use. The paint was of a quality you would expect to see on a tractor a trailer , good no runs but not like you would see at a car show the color was very pleasing but fades quickly when exposed it adheres well it did not come off under the steam pressure assault I wax the visible paint and peel the yellow when fooling around or while visiting with dwight. There is no plan to repaint this truck as it is very interesting to see one with the origional paint I have only seen a 62 in Fredricksburg texas that had origional paint in this good condition I wish i could load pictures of this truck. but not able to at this time it still has a lot of yellow on it and SPOT is its name.
