Took 7 hours to do the complete set of sheet metal parts and cab. It took 1,100 pounds of sand mixed with 1,680 gals of water to do it. Took 3 hours to remove 3 layers of paint off the cab but I left some of the brown looking primer on the metal. I now need to do a lot of D-8 sanding from what I have been told. The metal came out smooth and did not pit since I kept the blaster way back and took it off slowly. My arms are killing me. That was some tough under coating on those parts!! Never seen stuff so hard to get off it was like cement. I was able to do under the dash and will re/seal it so it won't rust again. You should try standing in a cab while running a presure washer with sand and water coming out of the tip. Now after I sand the metal smoother do I put Por-15 on then the Sandable primer for the real smooth finish for the top coat of paint? They wanted 800.00 to do the outside of the cab only. It cost me 30.00 and some gas and water along with 3 hours labor. At least I feel like I saved some money and a lot closer to getting it painted. I only found one small spot (little dent) that had some Bondo on it very supprised for something this old! Mark H.
