painting a bed

What is the best way to restore a bed? I have all the parts collected in a pile to create a bed for my '56. Sides, headboard, tailgate, fenders, running boards, strips, no wood yet.

Should I have each piece blasted, primed, painted? Then assembled, then put onto the truck? Or blasted, then assembled on the truck, then painted? Or blasted, assembled OFF the truck, painted, then installed on the truck?

Any and all suggestions accepted gratefully. This is giving me a headache.

My friend the body guy had this advice: "Sell it all, get a car loan for thirty grand, and buy a restored one!"

What a kidder.
