Grab a Harbor Freight pressure sandblast rig (or rent one), rent a *real* compressor (trailer mounted 4 cyl 100 CFM @ 90 psi) and get enough media. I use fine sand and would plan on 400#, but its cheap - $6/ 90# last I bought some. Get a good hood / respirator.
Be ready to etch and prime the same day in a humid climate. Is better to have 2 people.
Then decide if you want to shoot color or not.
It can be done, but it is not easy to get a good job in my experience.
