My truck has the same problem... 400cid. I asked this question a while back. My smokes upon deceleration, for example between shifts, and letting off the gas, and startup when the engine is hot. But does not smoke under light or heavy acceleration. I was told Valve guides. And the smoke has not really changed at all, and there is plenty of power.
It does use oil, maybe a quart every 1,000 miles or so. But that is probly 50/50 street/highway miles. My engine has right around 60k now. But this started around 30k maybe a little earlier.
Does it smoke under acceleration???
