Yes, the cloth wire is the only way to go. I made my own harness on my WDX & it's very easy....took less than 8 hours to make it including soldering & shrink wrapping every terminal. I actually found a guy on Ebay that sold all the different colors & guages of cloth wire. I bought $100 worth of wire from him & I kidd you not, I can probably wire 4 trucks with the amount he sent me. I guess the fuse panels are a safe idea, but my original harness made it from 1946 until 2003 without a fuse panel, so if I can make it untill 2060 with my new harness & no fuse block, I'll be satisfied!
