I have a 76 Full Time 4x4, with 4-speed manual tranny. Truck has 196,500 miles.
Problem: when I lock the truck in, and put a heavy load on the driveline such as climbing a really steep offroad incline, in dirt or gravel... I get a clicking noise almost like a missing tooth or something to that effect. There is a loss of traction and the truck cannot continue going up?? So could my T-case chain be slipping, or is it something more severe??? Driveline is all original, tranny, transfer case, have never been touched.
Axles, and driveshafts look fine. They do not seem to be damaged at all, splines are tight, and clean, I'm not sure what else to look at aside from the chain???
