Yes, Nebraska is very straight (and at least 12 hours long), I remember that. I tied off the wheel and went to sleep.
I don't know if these signs are still there, but in 1985 when I drove across, they were about every two miles along an incredibly long and desolate stretch of highway, without exits for hundreds of miles. Who in the world would be out there hitchhiking?!
But the signs are very cool, and I kept admiring their design....
So I unbolted one of the signs and put it in my truck and it's been hanging in my garage ever since....
