The last time I adjusted my valves I found some instructions on doing it with the engine off but hot. I can't find them but if I remember correctly you put #1 cylinder to top dead center on the firing storke and adjust three of the valve sets and then put #3 at top dead center on the firing stroke and adjust the remaning valves. It worked great and much easier than doing while the engine is running. But, I can't find the darn instructions. Maybe somebody will come up with them from this post, I hope so because I would print them out and save them for sure this time.
