We had poly-pro lines on the "professionally-installed" aftermarket side tanks on my 67 chevy pickup. The lines were less than 10 years old, but when driving down the west side of the Alvord desert, a rock got thrown up, hit the fuel line and shattered it like it was glass. The stuff had already gone completely brittle. I heard the rock but didn't notice the break until the engine quit. Fortunately I always use the side tanks first, and still had a full main tank, and fortunately the gas never caught fire, but I will never use polypro for fuel. I was about 20 at the time and pretty low-budget, so when we got back I replaced them with copper tubing using the same compression fittings they had used for the polypro. I don't think this is very good compared to steel, but they're still in service 20 years later.
