i think you will find fitting '40s sheet metal over a 6 cly deisel challanging,, fire wall to radiator will be too short. cutting into fire wall will reduce already limited cab space, i've contemplated relocating radiator to bed of truck. 4cyl deisel or sb-gas V8 would fit nicely under the '39-'47 hood , conversion data for flat fender PW should be applicable. big block gas should fit, but tight, steering box location an issue for original running gear.
if you end up with any 1.5 ton running gear , wheels etc left over, give me a shout.
