Has anyone done a V-8 repower and then swapped back to the 6 ? If so, what felt more
"right" in the PW. Did it tend to feel over powered with the V-8 ? Would a V-6 have been
adequite in your opinion ? Does having a V-8
tend to cause one to push the truck harder and faster than is necessary ?
For those that had a 251, do you think it would have met your need if the truck was used for only farm work, occasional trips to the co-op, landfill, and sunday joyrides (300mi. roundtrip)?
My reason for asking is ,I once repowered a 1949 willys jeep PU with a 318 and warn overdrive,12x15 sidewinder tires and found that I tended to push it like a full sized newer truck forgetting the ridgidity of the suspension and such. After about a year of everyday driving this way I found it had taken its toll on the older body and chassis
needing a body off inspection to find all the damage done.
Has anyone who has repoweered found the PW sheetmetal or chassis to suffer from simular
problems?
