Always listened to my buddy about "going down a hill too fast, only once". I always took my sweet ass time. He also told me that when you start worrying about other people and speeding up, if you loose the load on the roadway, NOBODY is gonna' stop and help you put it back on. As for my buddy, he was coming down Wolf Creek Pass and due to a malfunction, the brakes did not work. He told me he had no choice but to either go off the edge or try to tip it and slide. He chose the latter and all he remembers is putting it on the drivers side and about a minute or so of getting a shower of sparks in his face. He of course made it through. I met him after that and I have NEVER driven with such an EXCELLENT driver.

I lost my brakes going UP Wolk Creek Pass about 11:00PM. My pressure valve decided to malfunction and I went bump, bump, bump while my brakes locked and stopped. I flagged down the first car and said my buddy Steve Clifford was at the top in his Pete. The guy interupted me and said "I KNOW STEVE CLIFFORD!" Ten minutes passed, here comes the guys car driving back down to help me and Steve was driving. I found EVERYBODY from Denver to Gallup knew Steve Clifford. I cannot say what a great guy he has been through the years!
