When the engine itself runs away, although I had the same experience on Goat Hill, in Franklin, Pa in a old jeep. I tried to keep it slow, but the damn thing popped out of 1st gear and kept accelerating. The brakes acted like they had oil on them. At the bottom was the brick side of the steel mill. Thank God it was a 120 degree turn and a tri-axle truck was not parked there as they usually are. I must have hit the turn at 40 mph. I was shaking like a leaf. That was a problem, Dad bought junk, fixed junk and that's what he had, junk. Damn near didn't see my 19th birthday.
