Nothing burns my butt more than folks who turnoff their Diesel as soon as they stop. You Diesel owners are blessed with a fine piece of precision machinery whether it is International (Ford), Cummins (Dodge), etc. The engine runs off of hard-ass compression and that turbo pushing air in for more to ignite whines and whistles. You can hear that whistle near many "Big Trucks" i.e. Peterblts, K.W's, etc. Take a look at that pyrometer and watch her (the turbocharger) heat up as she works. Then, get to your destination and turn of your big engine. The oil flow stops and the temperature drops and that turbo is just slowing down as you walk in your front door and your engine is hurting because you didn't let her cool down and let the turbo slow down. On my Peterbilt (I may have it sold today, ugh!), there is a timer where you set it for say 10 minutes, turn off the key and walk away. When the timer ends, she shuts down happily. This engine I have (on my Pete) has 1,000,000 miles it and has no blow-by and still cranks over 415 H.P. Treat your Diesel gently and she'll last a long time!
