I dont find the term "flatfender" to be confusing at all in a general sense and at the outset of a conversation very helpfull. Many people you deal with, (O.K., I deal with) are simple folk, like me, who do not do well with the terms '49 b-1 PW126, '55 c-3 pw126, '58 L-6 W300M, bla, bla bla, bla bla. When someone calls me and says they want to sell thier "power wagon" that could mean just about anything. Heck I have a Ford GTB here that was advertised to me as a "Navy Dodge Command Car". The most recognizeable feature on the WDX-WM300 style Power Wagon is the front fenders, which happen to be basicly flat on a longitudinal plane, but curve from front to back. When someone tells me that they have a "power Wagon" for sale, the first thing I ask is-
"Are the front fenders flat with the headlights sitting on top of the fenders." This narrows it down a bit, but it does not nail it down.
Theres a ton of more questions to ask to figure out what someone has, and you still might be driving 4 hours to look at a Studebaker US-6 with the back axle removed and a different set of rear springs. (A actuall event for me!)
And everyone in the free world seems to think thier M-37 is a "Power Wagon".
If it came from the factory with the "power Wagon" badge on the hood then it's a Power Wagon. To tell Norm that his '64 W200, or Eric that his... well... '60 W300, is'nt a real "Power Wagon" is insulting.

So I say for our purpouses here, where we are all now somewhat educated on the different models of "Power Wagons", Refer to you truck as what it's designated on the door tag or glovebox door plate, or i guess it could be on the dash.
Oh, except for the '57 W300 which we all know is a 1 ton, 4 wheel drive, 230ci flathead powered, Dodge Power Wagon, available in 3 different GVW's, and it has distinctive curved flatish fenders on the front sides where the headlights mount on top of aformentioned fenders.
