Gordon,

While your thoughts are welcome, and when talking between yourself and other "serious" PW folks you can use any names you wish, how do you recommend that we train ALL the new people on this site (or the web in general) to use Power Wagon when talking about FF style ones, and Sweptline Power Wagon when talking about Norm's baby?

Just think on it for a minute, people often post looking for some technical info on a 58 Power Wagon, no more info given.

I reply and ask, is it a FF like the picture on the top of the forum, or is it a Power Giant like the one on my website, link below?

If I said:

"Is it a Power Wagon like the picture on the top of the forum, or is it a Power Giant Power Wagon like the one on my website, link below?"

That would work, but would not help the next person, who has no extra words to DEFINE what type of Power Wagon they have, and therefore I will have to ask them the same question!

Heck, in most cases if you post that you have a PW the responses assume you have a FF, but the poster did not clarify, and might have a 62 W200.

Remember, this is a mostly NON-visual medium, as most people do not post pictures of what they are talking about, and FF is a real nice fast way to clarify what you are talking about.

NOTHING you do here (among the PW fanatics of the world) will EVER affect people saying "Nice Jeep", or listing their M-37 as a Power Wagon in the paper.

Sorry, as powerful as the web is, none of us have that much power!

So unless you can come up with a better way to define PW, I will continue to use FF for the "original" and PG for 57-60, etc.

JUST like you continuing to use PWA for your magazine because it is known, I think FF works perfectly for the same reason, it is KNOWN.

Please feel free to flame as you wish, but remember, trying to change habits for a reason such as "purity" is a bit silly. What is important to me and many folks on this site is to do things that WORK, and FF has been used, and will continue to be used BECAUSE it works.

This is a FORUM, a place to talk, and the language we use is that which gets our point across with the fewest keystrokes. At least we have not degenerated the language as bad as those who IM each other all day long, IMHO. :-) :-)

Eric
