1978 W300 or what?

I just bought a 1978 PW and was told by the seller that this was a 1.25 ton truck (something about Military Specified). I broke out my Chiltons manual I purchased when I had a 72 W100 and tried breaking the VIN. However, there is an extra number in the VIN. The VIN is W27BD8S122278. The W is 4X4, the 2 should be the club cab (although my book doesn't specify club cab number for '78, 7 is the question number, B should be the weight class, D the 440 engine, S the plant and the rest the serial number. Is mine a W300 or what I have heard rumor of, a W400?

I am just getting started at being PW knowledgable, so any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
