The braking in a P/W is marginal at best even with stock tires. If you drive sensibly, you'll be fine with the 1100X16's...if you drive agressivly, you'll have big problems whether you run the Michelin's or the stock NDT's.
Myself, unless I was building an off-road beast that I could care less about originality, I'll be careful & keep my truck stock. If you're concerned about it, Helitool will certainly set you up with a kit capable of much better than the 40's technology your truck came with.
