Hey,
I'm with you there. I discovered that if you retard the engine and turn the fuel/air mixture screws in 1/4 to a 1/2 and then set up your idle to around 1,000 or so.
My truck passed first try. I just stopped right before I got there and then as soon as I was done, drove it down the street a mile or so more and retuned the engine!!
Worked like a charm!
